Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pants Review

6

Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pants are among the lightest hiking pants on the market, constructed of 86% 90D stretch ripstop nylon and 14% elastane for durability, abrasion resistance, and excellent flexibility.

Windproof and light rain-resistant, Kuhl Renegades or Prana Stretch Zion styles offer excellent weatherproofing capabilities. In addition, they’re incredibly comfortable and versatile – ideal choices for everyday life!

Comfort

The 90D ripstop fabric adds just the right touch of durability to these ultralight pants, helping prevent tears and major snags while traversing rugged terrain like Sierra talus fields or scrambling. Plus, its breathability keeps your legs cool as you hike up Sierra steps! And its pockets are terrific; two standard top-access hand pockets, plus a gigantic zippered pocket on one leg; drop rear pockets which lay flat without snagging against backpack hip belts or climbing harnesses are available as options too!

Ferrosi pants are lightweight hiking trousers designed to breathe, stretch and dry quickly – three essential qualities in hiking pants. Furthermore, these versatile trousers feature a convertible option to change into shorts when needed and elastic drawcords on leg cuffs to allow users to roll them up for increased airflow when it gets warm. Ideal for alpine hiking and backpacking trips as well as shoulder season and light winter use with the right baselayer, these Ferrosi trousers make great hiking partners!

Mobility

These lightweight, flexible pants make hiking easy. Their lightweight fabric feels smooth against your skin, even with a backpacking waist belt clipped around it – the ideal combination!

These pants are highly durable. Crafted with ripstop nylon material for extra toughness and featuring articulated knees and gusset in the crotch for optimal wear resistance.

They feature a DWR coating for water resistance and dry quickly, thus making them suitable for three-season hiking and climbing trips in most conditions. Furthermore, their UPF 50 rating helps filter UVA/UVB rays that could damage skin from the sun.

Versatility

With a UPF rating of 50+, these pants are ideal for outdoor activities that expose the skin. Not only lightweight and quick-drying – perfect for hot hiking days – this pair provides superior sun protection.

These pants are constructed of strong, breathable nylon fabric with ripstop reinforcement for extra strength and breathability. Perfect for hiking in warm Sierra granite terrain and volcanic rock surfaces without showing signs of wear, they have endured many climbs without showing any fatigue.

However, they’re thin enough to layer them if necessary during three-season excursions when conditions become cooler or wetter. Plus, their water resistance means they bead off rainwater quickly from your skin, while light showers dry too rapidly!

Value

Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pants offer exceptional breathability, mobility, and comfort – they feature durable construction that resists water and plenty of pockets to store items safely. Unfortunately, the bags may be somewhat shallow, but that is a small price to pay for superior breathability.

Their fabric features an ideal blend of 86% nylon and 14% spandex for optimal elasticity and stretch, providing exceptional elasticity and space. While less durable than Kuhl Renegade or Prana Stretch Zion models, the fabric still provides bend-don’t-break durability that you can depend on for vigorous activities. They’re water-resistant compared to the Renegade or Stretch Zion options but dry quickly nonetheless, making these pants an incredible value at about eighty bucks per pair – plus convertible models which convert from pants into shorts; perfect for hiking in hotter climates!
